Quiz on Whoever, Whatever & Wherever

Hi 6B,

I had given you a set of notes on this language item.

We can think about the W-ever words semantically as the 'W' word + the quantifier 'any'. The trick to understanding these terms is to realise that they apply to any single one of the referents, and at the same time refer to all of the referents.
  • Whatever - Any thing (This could also be every thing)
  • Whenever - Any time (This could also be 'every time')
  • Wherever - Any 'where' (Anywhere or everywhere).
  • Whoever - Anyone (Any person or every person, or sometimes used to refer to a person unknown to the speaker)
  • Whichever - Any 'which' (Choice between a group or set).
  • However - Any 'way' (In any manner or way, regardless of how).
Basically each one means:
"It does not matter what / when / where etc." OR  "An unknown thing / time / place etc."

Solar eclipse on 9 March 2016

On 9 March 2016, we experienced the solar eclipse at about 8.23 am. I know that some of you were prepared for this rare moment and I am delighted to know the level of excitement in some of you.
I believe many of us were pleased to catch a glimpse of it.

I would like to take this opportunity to excite you further with some additional information for your pleasure reading and exploration.

If you have missed the eclipse this time, you may want to equip yourself with some simple materials for the next eclipse on 26 Dec 2019.

Some of you have done well. Congrats to you.
Some may have not. Don't fret. You will do better.

Nevertheless, it is time to move on and continue to do your best and put in more effort to reach your goals.

We have now set new targets for SA1 and we shall work together to meet your goals.
