We have just completed Seed Germination & Seed Dispersal yesterday & today. Here's your task over the weekend.
Concept Map on Seed Germination (include the various parts of the seed & its functions; a short description of how the seed becomes a young plant)
Concept Map on Seed Dispersal (include the 4 ways of seed dispersal, wind, water, animals & splitting ; give more examples ; identify the structures or special features that the seed have in order to be dispersed)
Your Own Design of the Helicopter Seed Dispersal (like the "Shorea")
Brainstorm on the type of materials you can use to make the wing-like stuctures & the seed.
You may do some research to find out how such seeds are dispersed.
The "Shorea" must be able to sustain the the air by spinning on its own when dropped from a height.
The Best "Shorea" is the one that takes the longest time to reach the ground when dropped from a height.
Here a picture of the Shorea Fruit & a video on Seed dispersal.
yes ann kyee. That's how this type of seed get dispersed. If it doesn't spin, it would be like the angsana seed that just 'floats' in the air & be carried by the wind.

Must it be compulsory for it to spin?
